Now found worldwide, modern oats originate from the wild red oat, first discovered in Asia. As well as being packed full of protein, oats are an excellent source of hunger satisfying beta-glucan fibers. Our oats are cultivated and milled in Finland; just a stone’s throw away from the Ambronite manufacturing facility. The short but sunny growing season gives our oats their unique flavour and great nutritional value.
Almonds are a nutrient rich superfood native to the Middle East. Not only are they packed full of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats like avocado; they also contain important micronutrients, including magnesium and vitamin E. For this version, we carefully chose Italian almonds. The Italian quality has a creamier flavor and mouth feel and doesn’t have the slightly bitter aftertaste many almonds have.
Closely related to blueberries, bilberries are wild plants found primarily in cold, dry climates. As well as being pleasantly sweet to taste, they are packed with compounds called anthocyanins - potent antioxidants that strengthen blood vessels and reinforce connective tissues. Bilberries are hand-picked, carefully dried and then powdered at low temperatures to preserve their rich nutrient content. They add a satisfying combination of sweetness and sharpness to the shake. Our bilberries are grown wild above the Polar Circle in the Northern Finland.
Having a unique fresh flavor note, blackcurrants are nutritional powerhouses. Like bilberries, blackcurrants are full of anthocyanins, and have an antioxidant value of 7950 on the ORAC scale – one of the highest values for fruits. Our black currants are cultivated, dried and powdered by our partner in Finland, and add a subtly sweet, fruity taste to Ambronite.
Ancient Greeks believed that the small orange berries of the sea buckthorn plant were the main source of nutrition for the mighty winged horse Pegasus, providing it with its strength and vigour. A rare source of hair and skin protecting omega 7 fatty acids, tiny sea buckthorn berries contain a load of vitamin C. Ours come from Finland and the Baltics, and are carefully dried and powdered by our dependable partner in Finland. They add a slightly tart but sweet palate to our latest blend.
Modern apples originate from the wild ancestor Malus sieversii, which can still be found in the nutrient rich soils of central Asia. As well as being rich in vitamin C, apples contain a wide range of important antioxidants, flavanoids and dietary fiber, providing sustained energy throughout the day. They add a natural sweetness to Ambronite, without an accompanying blood sugar crash. Our apples are sourced from Central Europe, dried and milled by one of our trusted French partners.
It is said that cranberries played a key role in Native American culture, providing them with dyes, medicine, and of course – a healthy source of nutrition. Cranberries are loaded with vitamin C, dietary fiber and manganese, and are a great source of vitamin E, vitamin K, and copper. They also have one of the highest ORAC scores, a measure of a food’s antioxidant potential. Our cranberries are grown in both North America and Europe, before being carefully dried and milled in the region of Centre-Val de Loire, Central France. They add a subtle sweetness and fruity undertones to our newest blend.
Nettles grow wild and take very little effort to cultivate, making them a sustainable source of nutrition. They contain almost five times as much bone-building calcium as milk, along with generous amounts of chlorophyll, which acts as an anti-oxidant. They add a mild herbal flavor to Ambronite. Our nettles are grown in the rich and diverse natural environment of the Uzbekistan Provinces, historically known as an important landmark along the famous Silk Road trade route between China and the Mediterranean.
First discovered in ancient Persia, spinach has long been enjoyed for its wide range of health benefits. It contains high concentrations of iron, which plays a key role in the production of red blood cells. The dark leafy plant is also rich in Vitamins A, C and K. The spinach we use is cultivated, dried and milled by our trusted partners in Germany.
Originating in Georgia, flax is a versatile plant that is often used as a textile, but it’s also a source of great nutrition. When ground down to an easy-to-digest powder, flax seeds support our body’s overall health. As well as being a great plant-based source of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, flaxseeds contain ligands that possess hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic and antioxidant properties. Our flaxseed powder is cold-milled in the heart of the flax country in Valley City, North Dakota, USA.
Chlorella is a freshwater, blue-green algae that many believe could be the answer to the world’s overpopulation and food scarcity dilemma. Aside from being packed with protein, vitamin A, iron, and zinc; chlorella contains extremely high concentrations of chlorophyll, which can improve oxygen transportation and even help detoxify heavy metals from the body. For our latest recipe we used chlorella produced in Taiwan, which is particularly pure in quality and has a clean, mild flavor.
Although it is only in recent years that spirulina has been touted as an amazing superfood, civilizations surrounding Mexico’s Lake Texcoco have been enjoying the nutritional benefits of the blue green algae for centuries. It’s one of the densest sources of protein on the planet, with up to 57g per 100g of produce. It’s also full of B-vitamins, calcium, and a range of other important micronutrients. The nutritional quality and purity of our spirulina far exceeds general food standards and is even superior to organic varieties we have used in the past. Our spirulina is farmed in the Sonoran Desert of California, far from highways, airports and cities.
Also known as ‘Nootch’, nutritional yeast is produced by culturing yeast for several days, before deactivating it via heating. It is a rich source of gut-friendly fiber, B-vitamins, and all the essential amino acids needed by the body. Yeast adds a gentle, umami flavour to the supermeal. Our nutritional yeast is produced in Estonia by a company specializing in yeast products, with years of experience and dedication to high quality.
Mineral salt has been a key ingredient in the human diet for thousands of years. As well as being a strong antihistamine, salt helps to provide electrolytes and trace minerals that are involved in hundreds of bodily processes. As opposed to making Ambronite taste salty, mineral salt acts to bring out the flavors of other delicious, health-promoting ingredients. We are using mineral salt from Finland.
Coconut sugar has a 6,000 year history of use in cuisine and traditional medicine throughout SE Asia. It is a naturally nutritious and ecologically beneficial sweetener. Lower glycemic index provides sustained energy with a great mildly caramel like taste. Our coconut sugar is pure 100% coconut blossom sugar (Cocos nucifera) from biological and sustainable farms in Indonesia.
To add an extra flavor boost to Ambronite, we borrowed wisdom from the ancient healing art of aromatherapy. In our latest recipe, we used natural spray-dried aromas, such as extracts and essential oils. These aromas are of a plant-based origin and free from any harmful additives such as MSG or aspartame. Our natural aromas are produced in Canada.
Oats were one of the staple foods of the fearsome Viking warriors, helping their muscles to recover from the rigors of battle. Unlike other plant-based proteins, our oat protein comes with a smooth and enjoyable texture you’ll love. It is made in Sweden with high quality, locally sourced oats.
The Oat Protein in Ambronite Supermeal is a natural protein concentrate, prepared from oat bran and rich in oat protein. It also contains oat oil and oat maltodextrins, both of which occur naturally in the oat. Our oat protein is produced from 100% Swedish non-GMO oats, without chemicals addition or use of solvents, and contains no additives or preservatives.
As well as improving the health of the digestive tract, fiber helps to control blood sugar levels and has even been linked with lower cholesterol. Our oat fiber is derived from high quality oats grown in lush Swedish soils.
Guar gum is extracted from the bean of the guar plant, thought to originate in fertile African soils. It is a water-soluble fiber which has been linked to improved digestion and stable blood glucose. Besides, it makes the mouthfeel even smoother. Our guar gum comes from sunny India.
